How EFT Motivated Linda, Who Then Motivated Her Husband

EFT, short for Emotional Freedom Techniques, is a great method for motivation. We are naturally motivated and positive, but as we go through life, things happen to us that de-motivate us. This de-motivation is thought to be a kind of imprint left in our mind-body, an energy disturbance. It is this energy disturbance that puts

emotional blocks in our path to success. By applying EFT to this imprint or energy disruption, we release the blocks in our path and achieve the motivation that is rightfully ours to enjoy in this life.

"Linda" is a client who asked me for exercise motivation. She used to go to the gym regularly with her husband, who was a great inspiration for her. However, he had become de-motivated himself and stopped attending. Linda, having been introduced to the gym by her husband whom she loved very much, became disheartened and stopped going to the gym herself. She also needed confidence to say Hello and chat to people who know her at the gym. Previously, her husband had been the one to facilitate all social activity and she could simple join in when she felt like it. Without him at her side, she felt too much under the spotlight to go to the gym on her own and have to manage conversations alone.

In our session, I chose to use a visualization of going to the gym alone. At the beginning, Linda could visualise herself getting in the car with her gym kit but could not see herself at the gym. So we tapped statements such as the following.

"Even though he is my rock and my inspiration and I feel disappointed going without him, I accept myself anyway."
"Even though I don't know how to start a conversation or who to say hello to, I accept myself anyway."
"Even though I don't know how to catch someone's eye to say hello and what to say if they respond, I accept myself anyway."

We tapped and laughed and yawned, both good EFT releases, until finally, Linda could see herself working out at the bike in the gym and saying Hello to someone she knew. I gave her the aim of staying at the gym for 30-45 minutes, to help her ease into it.

The next time I saw Linda was two days later. She had been to the gym twice! What is more, her husband on both occasions saw her confidently leaving to go to the gym and decided to go with her. I often notice that once the energy disruption of one half of a couple has been re-balanced with EFT, the other half responds more favourably. She became his motivator!

EFT is a great way to release emotional blocks to motivation for exercise or anything that you want to achieve. You can download a free guide from many online resources and find out more for yourself. Or you can dive right in and work with an experienced practitioner.
